The practices below describe the current Android release. A future Woobley game or a feature that changes how data is handled will need an updated or separate policy.
Information we handle
- Local profile and settings. Your nickname, selected character, sound and graphics preferences, accessibility options, tutorial status and touch-control layout are saved on your device. Your nickname and character are also shared with other players when you join a room. Use a nickname rather than your real name.
- Online player identity. Unity Authentication creates an anonymous player identifier and stores sign-in credentials so the game can connect to online services. There is no email, password or social-login form. Anonymous sign-in can happen when the game starts with an internet connection, before you join an online room.
- Multiplayer and connection data. Room codes, membership, player identifiers, app version, character choices, movements and other game state are exchanged to connect players and keep the match synchronized. Connection services receive IP addresses; Unity Lobby and Relay also process approximate location derived from network information, service diagnostics, connection activity and performance information.
- Voice audio. When voice chat is enabled and microphone access is allowed, microphone audio is processed and transmitted to the other players in your session. See the microphone section below.
- Support messages. If you email us, we receive your email address and the message, attachments or other information you choose to send. We use this to answer your request. Please do not send passwords, payment details or unnecessary sensitive information.
We use this information to provide the game, remember preferences, connect and authenticate players, deliver voice chat, keep services working and respond to support or privacy requests.
Microphone & permissions
Voice chat is optional. The Android app requests microphone permission for in-game voice communication. When the microphone is enabled and another player is connected, audio is captured and voice-activated packets are sent through the session host to the other players. Online sessions carry these packets through Unity Relay; LAN sessions use the local network.
The game uses short audio buffers for live playback and does not save voice conversations as recording files or provide a voice-recording archive. Other participants can hear what you say and may independently record it. The microphone is not used for solo practice.
You can mute the microphone using the in-game mic control or audio settings, or revoke permission in Android’s app settings. You can continue playing without voice transmission. Muting speakers only changes what you hear; use the microphone control to stop sending your voice.
- Internet and network state: online authentication, rooms and multiplayer connections.
- Wi-Fi state and multicast: discovering and joining rooms on the same local network.
- Audio settings and Bluetooth: audio routing and compatible audio devices.
This Android version does not request camera, contacts, SMS or GPS location permissions. Approximate location processed by online services comes from network information, not a GPS permission.
Sharing & service providers
Other players: the room host and participants receive the nickname, character, game state and voice audio needed for the session. In direct LAN connections, the host and connected devices can also see network addresses.
Unity Gaming Services: Unity Authentication provides anonymous sign-in; Unity Multiplayer Services uses Lobby and Relay to create rooms and connect players. Unity and its service providers process the associated identifiers, network information and operational data to deliver these services. See Unity’s Privacy Policy and the privacy information for Authentication, Lobby and Relay.
Support and website providers: our email provider processes support correspondence, and Vercel hosts the Woobley website and processes technical request and security logs. Google Play separately handles store downloads and its own platform services under Google’s Privacy Policy.
Service providers may process information in countries other than yours. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to investigate abuse or protect players and the service. We do not sell player information.
Ads, purchases & analytics
The current release does not include advertising SDKs, targeted ads or in-app purchases. It does not ask for payment-card information or use an advertising identifier.
There is no separate marketing analytics or crash-reporting SDK enabled in this release. Unity’s online services still process connection activity, approximate network-derived location, diagnostics and performance information for service operation and analytics. This is why online play is not described as collecting no data.
How data is protected
Unity Authentication and online service requests use encrypted connections. The Android online Relay transport uses DTLS encryption. Direct LAN discovery and gameplay use local UDP networking and do not provide the same encrypted transport; use LAN play on networks you trust.
Local profile and preferences are stored in the app’s device storage. Rooms use join codes, and the host validates connection and game messages. Keep room codes private if you only want invited players to join.
No network or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Avoid putting sensitive personal details in your nickname or sharing them through voice chat.
How long information stays
- On-device data: profile, settings and cached sign-in information remain until you change them or clear the app’s storage. Device or cloud backup settings may affect whether data is restored after reinstalling.
- Live voice: audio is processed in short-lived memory buffers for the session, not retained by the game as a conversation history.
- Unity Authentication: Unity retains the anonymous player record until it is deleted by the player’s developer or through its supported deletion mechanisms. Uninstalling the app alone does not delete that server-side record.
- Unity networking records: Unity’s published Relay retention period is 30 days. Lobby’s published policy describes up to 30 days for player identifiers in its logs. These are provider retention periods, separate from your local settings.
- Support correspondence: we keep messages while handling your request and necessary follow-up, or where needed for security or legal obligations. You can ask us to delete correspondence we no longer need.
Provider retention practices are described in the Unity links above. If information must be retained for a legal or security reason after a deletion request, we will explain the applicable limitation.
Your choices & data deletion
You can change your nickname and preferences in the game, leave multiplayer sessions, turn off voice chat, or revoke microphone access in Android settings.
To clear local data: open Android Settings → Apps → The Fifth Shift → Storage → Clear storage / Clear data. Menu names vary by device. This resets local preferences and may remove the credentials used to recognize your anonymous player identity. It does not itself request deletion from Unity.
Request deletion from Woobley
Email support@woobley.com with the subject “The Fifth Shift — Data deletion request”. You do not need to reinstall the app to contact us.
Tell us whether your request concerns support messages, your anonymous online player record, or both. Include your player ID if you already have it; otherwise explain that you need help identifying the record. A nickname alone may not uniquely identify an account. Do not send authentication tokens or passwords.
We may need reasonable information to verify the request and locate the correct record. For a verified request, we will delete data under our control and arrange deletion of applicable Unity records through Unity’s supported processes. Service logs may remain for the retention periods described above or where a legal obligation requires retention.
Email a deletion requestFor access, correction or other privacy requests, use the same email address. Available rights depend on where you live. We will explain any steps needed to verify and act on your request.
Children’s privacy
The Fifth Shift is intended for players aged 13 and over and is not directed to children under 13. This is a survival-horror game; players should also follow the age rating and suitability information shown in their Google Play region.
We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the game or support, contact support@woobley.com so we can investigate and arrange appropriate deletion.
The Woobley website
The website introduces our games and hosts this policy. Its contact form is currently unavailable and does not submit information typed into it. Use support@woobley.com for privacy or support requests.
The website does not require an account or add advertising trackers. Its hosting provider may process IP addresses and technical access or security logs to serve and protect the site. Website animations follow your device’s reduced-motion setting.
Contact & policy updates
For questions about this policy or The Fifth Shift’s data practices, contact Woobley at support@woobley.com.
We will update this page when the game’s features, providers or data practices change and revise the date at the top. Where a change requires a separate notice or permission, we will provide it before introducing that change.
